Interview with D’espairs Ray
at TOC/08 in Chicago
ZORRO (from jrockradio.com): What does it mean for D’espairs Ray to be part of a big USA tour like Rockstar Taste Of Chaos?
ZERO (bass): Of course this is our first big tour in USA, with many dates and cities. That is really excite for us, but at the same time is very challenged and great training for move on and learn so many things.
ZORRO: Do you have a funny story or moment that you can share with us about your experiences on the tour so far?
ZERO: Well I forget what city but we went to shopping mall in a taxicab together. Then we find the store and there we find a Keyboard and a tuxedo for MUCC and other stuff. So we are waiting for the cab and them call the police. I did nothing wrong but I was really scared and the cops start to complain about why I’m scared. Was really funny.
TSUKASA (drums): We went to a restaurant and one ordered a green ice tea. So after he says I so full!! Why don’t you drink it. And when I did, I released was wasabi on that!
ZORRO: How has it been touring with MUCC and THE UNDERNEATH?
ZERO: Is so much fun! Of course we never did a tour with MUCC and THE UNDERNEATH together and we get so much stimulation of many bands is just fun!
Before the tour we talk about: “If you don’t give a 100% the other will going to crush you down.” So we are forced to push ourselves, is so much fun!
ZORRO: Do you think there have been changes in the Jrock world scene since Jrock Revolution came in?
ZERO: Yes! Since Jrock Revolution came to he USA the scene here change drastically.
ZORRO: D’espairs Ray will have American releases next week. Talk us about it.
ZERO: This album has so many messages. The name "Mirror" is trying seeing yourself thru the mirror, and breaking the old you and refresh and recover yourself. And at the same time we say to the fans and the audience: “break yourself and find the real you”.
ZORRO: You now have fans in many countries around the world. Will this affect the future music of D’espairs Ray?
ZERO: Actually that already happen. You can listen our old music and you can tell. Before international tours our music was more dark and heavy. Then we decided go out and communicate with our fans and express ourselves more openly, that is the biggest change.
ZORRO: The band members have remained the same since the beginning. Is hard after all these years to find personal time in between all of your tours and traveling?
ZERO: We realize we are involved together in everybody and we never get bored of each other and we respect everybody. Everybody have the same goal, but we can discover in everyone new things. Is the way we can get new things and be refresh one to other. So every day is a new discovery and we never get bored.
We think if we continue do the same things can be hard, but before us we have the same goals and we are not there yet, so with continue trying.
ZORRO: Which band member has the most luck with girls?
(Both Joke about it and decided count to 3 and say the name in mind) ichi, ni, san …Silent and again: ichi, ni, san … KARYU!! (guitarist).
