LIVE REPORT: SUGIZO WITH JUNO REACTOR
Sep 26 2008 Metro venue, Chicago IL
Juno Reactor is a band which is not easy to catalogue. Their music is Electronic, sometimes Industrial or Rock, but always with ethnic influences. Create by Ben Watkins from UK, the band has musicians and dancers from Africa, an American drummer and on guitar SUGIZO, the enigmatic EX Luna Sea, who also has a success career like soloist.
Thanks to Jrockrevolution.com, Jrockradio.com had the chance to take part in Juno Reactor’s performance at Metro, Chicago IL, on Sept 26 and report it. You also find the interview with SUGIZO is HERE.
Metro is a very nice venue. 3 floors: the first is a store and bar, on the second the main stage and the last is the balcony. There was also an excellent sound and lights system that day.
The show started at 10:00 pm and for this reason it was only for 18 years and older.
Before Juno Reactor, Future Rock took the stage. They are an instrumental band with a mix of Electronic, Progressive House and Rock. The 3 members had a great show and I note they had a lot of fans there.
One hour later it was the turn of Juno Reactor; I had expectations about this multi cultural band. It was excellent to see how such a variety of concepts and sounds can be mixed and have this great harmony.
Tribal dances, ethnic drums, rap, sporadic guitar riffs - all this ingredients make Juno Reactor to a very particular band. I note how each member made its own part and gave space to the other members as well. See an African dancer contort his body to the strident sound of a Japanese guitar play is something (talking about me) I had never seen before.
SUGIZO also showed his skills with the violin, but with some technical problems at this time. I need confess, some moment I was thinking SUGIZO’s talent was not appreciate in a 100 %. But in some songs he showed what an amazing guitar player he is. Also I was remembering the interview we had just before the show, when he told us, in the band is the chance to show the talent and influences of all the members.
Anyway SUGIZO has his own star and we saw a group of fans which knows its trajectory and relevance in the Jrock scene. What a great chance to see this great musician!
Definitely a wonderful experience came to this show. The interview is online now! Futhermore you find the gallery by click the pictures.
Thanks again to Jrockrevolution.com and the Juno Reactor Staff for the invitation.
